Our Soil
To keep our 5 acres of soil healthy, rich, and thriving, we utilize millions of toiling, soiling earthworms and
millions of kilometers of local mycelial highways.
We've made a pact with them to not disturb their home with any mass tillage and in return, we provide them with locally sourced leaves, woodchips, manure, and compost.
If only our human slaves were as hard working as our earthworms -- a rabbit can dream.
To prevent unwanted plants and grasses, we sometimes cut them, smother them, and overseed with cover crop mixtures. Weeds are great mulch and worm food.
However, it's our goal to keep plants growing on the soil at all times if possible. What mycorrhizal, fungally networked soil doesn't like arbuscular exudates!?
